Today, we’re excited to introduce one of the newest faces behind the scenes – Wayne Garton, our skilled Production Operative who brings a wealth of experience and passion to the team. Behind every precision-cut job, perfectly printed sheet, and packaged product from Eight Days is a team of dedicated production and print professionals who care deeply about the work we deliver.
From his early days on the print floor to helping scale companies to multi-million-pound operations, Wayne’s career in digital print, litho print, and print production has been nothing short of remarkable. In this feature, we get to know Wayne a little better, exploring his journey, skills, and what he’s most excited to bring to Eight Group.
A Career Built on the Production Floor
Wayne’s journey in print began straight out of school. From day one, he rolled up his sleeves and got stuck in – learning the ropes hands-on, from lithographic printing to digital printing and finishing.
“I was straight from school into print and never looked back really. Been hands-on right from the start, from litho and digital printing through to finishing.”
Wayne has seen – and done – it all in the world of print and production. Running machines, leading teams, and even taken on management responsibilities, but always with a focus on getting things right for the client.
“That’s how I was brought up in the trade – shop floor contact for the client, making sure everything’s spot on before it goes out the door. I take pride in that.”
Making an Impact – One Job at a Time
Among his many professional highlights, one stands out in particular: being part of a team that transformed a small business into a thriving operation.
“We started off turning over about £250k, and when I left, it was doing £5.5 million. That was in under five years. Proper team effort, everyone pulling in the same direction.”
That kind of growth is no accident. It’s the result of experience, attention to detail, and a relentless drive to improve – all qualities Wayne Garton brings to Eight Group.
Joining Eight Group – A Natural Fit
Wayne had always heard good things about Eight Group, and when the opportunity came up to join, he didn’t hesitate.
“They’ve got a brilliant reputation in the industry. One of those places you hear about and think, ‘I’d love to be part of that.’”
From day one, Wayne felt at home.
“Everyone’s been so welcoming – felt part of the team from day one. It’s a good atmosphere to be in.”
Now, he’s ready to bring his extensive print production knowledge and client-first mindset to help Eight Group continue delivering exceptional results.
“I’m very client-focused and consider my people skills to be one of my strengths too. Always happy to chat with clients, sort things out, and make sure they’re getting an above and beyond service.”
Passion for Print and Pursuit of Progress
Wayne’s approach to work is rooted in continuous improvement, always looking for ways to do things better and more efficiently. Whether it’s shaving a few seconds off a task or implementing a new process, his eye for optimisation is second nature.
“I’m big on time and motion too – lean manufacturing, that sort of thing. Always looking for a better way to do things, even if it’s just saving a couple of seconds.”
It’s this mindset that aligns perfectly with Eight Group’s mission to stay at the forefront of the digital print industry.
Wayne Garton – The Man Behind the Machine
The best teams are made up of real people with passions, hobbies, and stories beyond the job. So, we sat down with Wayne Garton for a quick-fire Q&A to get to know the man behind the print machine.
- Q: Do you have any hobbies or creative outlets outside of work?
“Yeah, I love walking the dog, Blue. He’s a little Patterdale terrier. Been getting back into fishing too – I used to do it loads as a kid and it’s nice to enjoy it again. I am a Big football fan as well – Forest through and through. Come on You Reds! ”
- Q: What’s one item you can’t live without during your workday?
“Sandwich box – got to keep fuelled! And my glasses – I’d be lost without them.”
- Q: If you could swap jobs with someone for a day, who would it be and why?
“Fireman, I wanted to be a part-time firefighter many years ago – there’s just something about it, testing yourself and knowing I could really do that in real life, helping people. I certainly had the heart for it but the knee didn’t pass the medical. Or maybe a golf groundskeeper – There is something about being outdoors.”
- Q: What’s your go-to productivity hack or daily habit?
“I’m a workaholic, no two ways about it – I get told off all the time for not switching off. But I’ve always been like that. Early starts help me set the tone – get in, crack on, and keep improving.”
- Q: If you could have dinner with any historical figure or celebrity, who would it be and why?
“Elvis Presley and Brian Clough – imagine the stories! Elvis fascinates me – such a presence. And Clough, well, he’s a legend. Would love to sit in a bar with the two of them and just listen – that’d be something special.”
Whether it’s fine-tuning production processes or cheering on his team at the weekend, Wayne’s got a passion and energy that’s hard to miss – and we’re lucky to have him bringing that same drive to Eight Group every day.

Looking Ahead
Wayne is all about progress – both personally and as part of a team. For him, success at Eight Group isn’t just about hitting targets; it’s about learning, evolving, and building something meaningful together.
“Even if we take a loss, it’s about learning from it – finding new ways, not getting stuck in the old ways. Sometimes a little change can make a big difference.”
With his sharp eye, hands-on approach, and deep commitment to client satisfaction, Wayne is a vital part of Eight Group’s ongoing journey. We’re over the moon to have him on board.
