Simon Scott, Postal Services Manager
What does a Postal Services Manager do?
Simon manages complex postal logistics and ensures every piece of mail is sorted, processed, and delivered with precision. This contributes to a seamless operation and enhances our clients’ communication efficiency.
Beginning his day with work-in-progress meetings, Simon stays abreast of ongoing and future projects, ensuring smooth workflow. His proficiency in mail sortation allows clients to benefit from optimised postal rates, and intricately sorting data to streamline delivery processes.
Simon meticulously manages mail, ensuring accurate notifications to postal carriers, which maintains efficiency from booking to delivery. Simon collaborates closely with our sales team to identify and implement postal incentives, offering cost-effective solutions tailored to client needs. Another important task is to liaise with Royal Mail & 3rd party carriers on our Door to Door & Direct Mail campaigns set up and bookings – we do a lot of these!
His proactive approach keeps us competitive, delivering value and fostering client satisfaction. Additionally, he oversees return mail, diligently sorting and scanning for account managers, enhancing record accuracy and customer satisfaction. Simon also manages logistics for consumables, playing a crucial role in our daily operations, ensuring there is enough on the shop floor to support all of our mailings.
Simon’s hobbies beyond the office
Simon’s talents extend beyond the office. In his spare time, Simon immerses himself in the colourful world of LEGO, where creativity knows no bounds. His passion has reached new heights with his remarkable ‘Nightmare Before Christmas’ creation being selected for global sale.
Set to hit stores on September 6th 2024, this masterpiece will allow fans worldwide to relive Tim Burton’s iconic Disney tale in LEGO form. The set is an intricate display model, featuring 2,193 pieces and a host of beloved characters.
Simon’s journey with LEGO began nearly four years ago when he first submitted his idea. Reflecting on the process, Simon shares, “It’s been a lengthy process of nearly 4 years from first submitting an idea to Lego for consideration to finally seeing it in stores for sale. Transforming my original submission into an official retail set was a really interesting process to be part of along with Lego, Disney & Tim Burton Productions. My input was taken on board and nothing moved forward unless there was agreement between all stakeholders.”
He adds with pride, “I’m the 59th person in the world to have had their submission turned into a retail set. It’s quite the accolade in LEGO circles and certainly another tick off my bucket list. The feedback from the LEGO community has been overwhelming. On the whole along with the support and encouragement I’ve received from friends & colleagues at Eight Group.”
Simon’s story is a testament to how dedication to both professional and personal interests can lead to extraordinary achievements. We’re thrilled to celebrate this with Simon. His success with LEGO not only underscores his artistic talents but also embodies the innovative spirit we cherish in our team here at Eight Group.
